252 - Bursting

So it finally happens.. I started working on a non-WoW machinima!

As I finally have a needed amount of PC's (3 - 2 for puppeteering, 1 for filming) to do FPS machinima, I decided to try things out with Unreal Tournament 3.

This is a music video I'm making, and it's small plot is about a male and a female showing their love to each other with bullets, missiles and shrapnels.

"Bursting" will be the title of the machinima.

The song I'm using is "Shuttle to Venus" by Turmion Kätilöt, which is a perverse-sounding industrial metal cover version of a 90's Finnish pop song.

The filming is not that much different from in-game WoW machinimating.

Adjust the camera, adjust the actors, action... screw up and try again :)

Looks interesting.
Question, how do you get rid of the UI in UT3 to be able to take screen shots or fraps?

Robgee: When you are in-game, open the console (default key is tab). Type in TOGGLESCREENSHOTMODE twice (the first time does nothing, the ui and all should disappear on the second).

Hey thnx B, that works. One thing, is there any way to get in the map with out other bots so that i can shoot with out worrying about enemy bots killing me?

Robgee: When you start the game (Instant action mode), before entering the actual level you can go around the map in spectator mode.

DO NOT click on your mouse in this phase or the game starts and you + bots enter the game. Instead, open the console and typein 'togglescreenshotmode' so that the hud disappears.

Unfortunately, there is no command to hide the powerups and rotating guns on the map. If you or someone else fins such a command, let me know - would be greatly appreciated.

Hey thnx B. I found out that if you play off line and do instant, b4 u start, in the opponents section you can set opponents to 0 and just have the whole map to ur self. Hope thats useful.
