OMFG NO!

FFS, ANOTHER "PEOPLE WALKING"-VIDEO!!11 CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE GOD DAMNIT! FOR EXAMPLE SOMETHING WITH A PLOT??+++!!11

No, not really, no.

At least a murloc is killed.

I got some suggestions to make a (musically) slower paced UE-styled video quite a long ago, around the releases of UEv2 and v3. Making the video would be the easy part, finding the correct song was an other thing.

While browsing through my mp3 collection, I found this gem from 2005, "Out of Asia (chillout mix)" by Electroheadz. This song was the correct style and correct length. As usual I had other candidates for the soundtrack, but for this movie Out of Asia won the race.

I wanna add that on this video there is not a single WoW model viewer scene, everything is done with good old in-game filming.

As for the visual effects, I created an effect chain consisting of this and that. Just a bit more clearly put, every scene uses the same set of effects. Their amount was modified from scene to scene just to make sure that things are not too light or dark.

Now I really, really should get started on my machinima for the Worldvide Invitational contest.

Great work ! As always.
If you do some more escapism stuff, it would be great to see a bit more color (tough this one should not have looked better with more).

This was fantastic ! The music is perfect. Well, I am biased as I love asian based mixes, but I thought the flow and timing went well with the video. I also appreciate the in game filming. Map edits et.al are very cool and really can show off some amazing machinimaking skills, but sometimes it is nice to slow it down and go back to basics. ^^I'll have to watch a few more times to pick a favorite scene.

All in all very relaxing, the title says it all. =)

when I was referring to your map edits I was referring to your other work. Et al = and others. Meaning your other work shows off your skills but sometimes simple works aka in game filming.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Hmmm... no WCM post? It's so disappointing to have to find quality work the 'roundabout' way. lol. Excellent job, as always.

Good stuff! As always, I love the Escapism series - really evocative.

I'd like to see a bit more colour, though - you seem to have been going through a grey/brown phase of late, with the exception of Kake Buk Island.

Superb work as always.

Are you showing up in France as well, or are you just submitting the video?

At June 7, 2008 at 3:02 PM , Blogger BaronSoosdon said...

@ Hugh: More colors in the future - but not in the next one (the WWI entry). I'm thinking of making it completely B&W.

@ Cern: yea it is, most of the digital download stores (Beatport, Trackitdown, CDJShop etc) which sell electronic music should have it.

Just out of curiosity, how did you get the flying mount to work in Azeroth?

At June 7, 2008 at 3:47 PM , Blogger BaronSoosdon said...

@ Anonymous: You need a private server using the Ascent software.

Then you need to make a macro which mounts you on a flying mount, puts the flymode on and voila.

At June 7, 2008 at 3:49 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Also wondering about the flying mount in Azeroth. I'm guessing you edited your image files in the MPQ to load a Engineering mount instead of the gryphon? Or private server, I suppose.

To the two last questions:

#1 - The sword is Frostmourne.

#2 - The end credits song is "Selfmade Executable" by AMJ

Great work, got to be among the best video releases this year. And I honestly agree with your point of view on the type of gamemedia released. Beautiful editing, loved the chill mix but might have been better with a smoother transition between the clips.

Great job! :) I like your video very much.

How do you make the camera movements look so smooth? When I turn the camera in a circle + slow movement while frapsing, it will not look good at the end. Any hints? :) Thanks in advance.

At June 9, 2008 at 5:14 PM , Blogger BaronSoosdon said...

@ latest anonymous: it is the ImprovedCamera (or Cameraplus, I always mix those two) addon which allows the smooth & sexy camera movements.

The pillar thing was a Dire Maul vortex game object which I had placed into here'n'there (STV in this video mostly). It's an emulator trick.

Amazing video, I cannot help but keep watching it over and over again. I espacially love the music. I can't find it anywhere, I tried the places you mentioned, but can't find it. Would you mind sending it to me or something? I'd appreciate it.
