Making of "No Point: Stretching Time"
The idea for this movie came to me late 2007 or early 2008. I went to the WoW.dev forums and asked people to send me their model changes. I wanted to create a movie which would feature new worlds from many directors. The other criterias for the movie weret that a) it should have gnomes as main characters and b) it should have a meaning or a plot.

Originally the movie was supposed to be created around one song, the DJ Orkidea remix of the Nightwish song "Bye Bye Beautiful". In the end, a good idea was replaced with an excellent one and that song is not in this movie at all.

The exact day when first recordings were made is 26th of february 2008. I finished editing the movie on 11th of December 2008. Between this time there was like a 5 month break when I did not do anything to the movie, it just was lying around in my HD.

Cool opening credit animation created by Pinkhair

That was definitely a good thing - now No Point: Stretching Time is almost exactly what I want it to be. I would have re-filmed a couple of really small scenes, but my laptop decided to blow up so that's a no go. I can honestly say that this is the machinima I'm most satisfied of.

Having no other games featured than WoW was part of the first plans, but later on I added multi-game scenes when the movie and story grew. It was no longer a "yet another Unlimited Escapism" but something more.

The plot - which can be interpreted in any way you want - was done the absolutely wrong way. On the beginnning I did have some ideas written on the paper, but at the final stages I just went with the philosophy "sync cool things to the music".

The name of the movie has nothing, 0% to do with the content. "No Point" comes from the lovely comments at WCM (which the UE series mostly got), "WTF?! THERE'S NO POINT!!11". Also, the phrase "No Point" will market the movie automatically - people use it in sentences. For example, "There's no point giving the Thunderfury to a warrior, since a warlock can also wield it nowadays." Hopefully this evil plan is successful!

"Stretching Time" is just an enormous salute to the song of same name in the movie (by Dj Orkidea).

Yes, I am a huuuuuge DJ Orkidea fanboi.

That's all folks! I hope you enjoy the movie and download it instead of streaming. Watch this machinima from the biggest video and audio system possible. The sound design by Caruu (also known as the prime messenger of Xenu) should make some sweet love to your stereo system.

A sequel? Not necessary, but not an impossible thought. I've told everything there is to this story. To get inspired to make a No Point 2, I need a bunch of new skillz an model changes.

My next machinima (the music video where I asked for people to send in their gnomes) is 99% ready. It will be delayed till I get my laptop back or come up with an alternative idea how to finish it.

STOP PRESS!
He is back! The DIVINE ONE has returned! AMAZING!

Now that's WHAT I'M FUCKING TALKING ABOUT! Epic, pure fucking epic. Something in the Escapism style yet with a little story. Pure Soosdon, pure awesome. I'm happy that even though I don't drink teh Coffee anymore, my changes are still being used :)

My general feeling about this is that it is pretty awesome !

However, I think the movie only reach it's full potential at the dragon fight. Before that, the model changes are pretty cool but all the wandering was less interesting than in your Unlimited series.

Also some things are quite disturbing : the gnome on the wolf on his way to crash into the pillar, or the elevator glitch in the gnome tower. (I'm a detail person :o I even noticed that walking in Dun Tropica threw snow in the air instead of sand).

Nice choice of music, as always (I particularly enjoyed dropzone and the 28 days theme), tough I think "the final fight" would have beneficed from some more epic music.

I wonder if it was necessary to put stone giants/ghosts in every single town (very cool in Booty Bay I must admit !).

Also quite dislike the bad guys guns :p

3d animations, runes stuff were friggin awesome.

So, thanks a lot :) I'm looking forward to the music video and Kake Buk 2.

The HD upload to FileFront is showing up as invalid. QuickTime states the issue is an invalid sample description.

corey: The x264 version is meant to be watched with Media Player Classic or VLC.

If it still does not work, go for the XviD version instead.

Quinnie: I actually forgot to add Particle Illusion to the program list. Most of the explosion, spell etc effects are made with that.

Still I'm curious, did you had some plot elements planned already ?

You could always just rename the .mp4 to .avi to get it to play in Windows Media Player, assuming you have the codecs. It worked for me.

I just finished watching this piece and had to stop by to say both how much I appreciate the end result and the hours of creativity that went into this movie.

It was simply amazing.

The work of the team of folks supporting you was amazing as well.

Over and over I kept thinking to myself, "I want to see that zone".

A beautiful movie. Thank you so much for sharing it with the rest of us.

It's like my eyes and ears went on holiday - and came back better than ever before.

The machinima, the story, the music, the models, the landscapes. All works of art by their respected artists. I thank them.

And I thank you, Soosdon. <3 Simply awesome.

Absolutely BRILLIANT work here Soosdon! Epically and expansively imagined; technically masterful. Wow.

And please disregard all the idiots who claim your music taste is somehow detracting from the pure awesomosity on display in your work. They are idiots. Your music selections are always great.

This video doesn't have any working links at warcraftmovies.com, filefront throws an error and megaupload would rather be nanodownload if you arent willing to pay for crap services like that.

Hope you could fix a working download link for this video, or even a WCMTorrent. Plix.

Petokalan kudosnäyte on haista kaavittu.
