254 - Can't think of a good topic, so I'll just type in "No Point update"

No Point started as a model change movie, where the plot was secondary. Now, it has become something else. From a 50/50 ratio between plot and "peoplewalking-camerazooming-youknowtheruleandsodoi", it has more plot now than I would even think of it having.

Finishing the movie is close, but it will not be out soon. There is still much to do, but the finale of the movie is getting closer to being completed.

Once that is done, I'll see if I can put out a trailer. I won't promise any dates, this movie and the trailer comes out when it's ready and done :)

253 - A reminder...

Are you a machinimaker? Do you use WoW model viewer?

If the answer is yes,

REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR CURRENT WoW DIRECTORY BEFORE WEDNESDAY.

On the 15th of October, the pre-WotLK patch will hit the servers. It WILL cripple the current WoW model viewer functionality, so back up your WoW now.

The simplest way to do the backing up is to create a folder called "WoWold" (for example) and just copy the contents of your current game folder there.

It might take a while until a new, fully working, WotLK compatible version is released. Same thing with map viewer.

There is an "under development" version of a WotLK model viewer available, but reading the comments it seems quite buggy. I personally have not tested it yet. More info about it on WoW model viewer forums.

252 - Bursting

So it finally happens.. I started working on a non-WoW machinima!

As I finally have a needed amount of PC's (3 - 2 for puppeteering, 1 for filming) to do FPS machinima, I decided to try things out with Unreal Tournament 3.

This is a music video I'm making, and it's small plot is about a male and a female showing their love to each other with bullets, missiles and shrapnels.

"Bursting" will be the title of the machinima.

The song I'm using is "Shuttle to Venus" by Turmion Kätilöt, which is a perverse-sounding industrial metal cover version of a 90's Finnish pop song.




The filming is not that much different from in-game WoW machinimating.

Adjust the camera, adjust the actors, action... screw up and try again :)

251 - Stranglethorn is burning!

Some new screenshots from No Point! Believe it or not, I really may get the machinima ready this year :o

On the screenies we have three from Bullshitmaster's Booty Bay of Doom. The last one is from Burning Alterac Valley by Lex, but it has beed colourized to be a little colder.






The new computer kicks ass! Rendering of approximately 14 minutes of colourized footage took "only" 7hours+.

250 - Really Sad News...

Earlier today I heard some really saddening news from the #nogg-aholic channel on Quakenet IRC.

A good friend had passed out today.

So.. it is my sad duty to inform you that someone is no longer with us.
