268 - HELLO WORLD

I managed to load models into 3DS Max!

First quest in the "HELLO WORLD!"-series is complete. It's a damn long way to go before I can create the ultimate rickroll. That is the sole reason for starting to learn doing stuff in the third dimension :)

The last picture with the gyrocopter was the "hardest" to achieve - moving the gnome to the cockpit and making it look somewhat good.

All this is very basic stuff, you know the rules and so do I.

See this tutorial for more info on how to do it.

267 - Flawless Victory!

The only word I can think of is 'OWNED'.

The Craft of War: BLIND from percula on Vimeo.

That.
Is.
Fucking.
Amazing.

Ok everyone - now go that Vimeo link and tell the guy to continue.

This little video just owned every custom-animated WoW machinima (can this be even called a machinima? does it even matter?) in the face.

The only small thing I got to nag about is the lack of that flowing red essence when swords enter flesh, but that is a very minor detail in an otherwise flawless production.

p.s.

If someone knows a travel agency selling cheap trips to the matrix, I'd like to know! Need some 3d skillz please, I has a movie to upgrade :)

265 - Interview!

It's been a while since I've been interviewed!

The German site MyWorldOfWarcraft.de questioned me about this and that via IRC.

264 - To Home for Christmas

And it's done! A very simple machinima about a blood elf paladins journey back to his family right before christmas.

HOLY CHANGED MODEL FORMAT BATMAN! There is only one modelviewed scene in the entire thing (see the post below).

The soundtrack for this video is Satellite by OceanLab - a classic in it's own genre and one of my personal favourite trance tune of all time. I've been waiting for a situation to machinimate that song and here it finally is.

I'll provide downloads later on, but the stream @ WeGame is in HD720p.

263 - Contests, contests..

Yea, XMas contests!

WeGame has one. I'm joining.

Warcraftmovies.com has one. I'm joining if I have time to finish, film and polish a second movie.

Machinima.com has one. I'm not joining for obvious reasons. Gotta love the prizes.. A frostmourne replica and a bear statue by Kilh.

The one I'm filming for WeGame is relatively fast to do, as I'm filming it 98% ingame. The lack of WotLK model viewer is disturbing!

It will be a music video with no or a very few dead murlocs.

One preview pic:

What would a post be without me babbling about No Point: Stretching Time?

Well, a famous sound designer with an affection to Tom Cruise and movies with black horse riders and yellow outlines is sound designing it.

Your subwoofer will be no stranger to boom.. I hope!

262 - Some really clever topic, right here!

There's no denying it - No Point is getting even more closer to being ready!

Today I finished filming the intro of the movie (big thanks to Legs for sparking that idea). The things left are to re-film and fix some scenes in the movie and do the end credits.

I still can't promise that No Point: Stretching Time will make it's premiere this year.

While waiting, see some pictures:

And in other news, I finally got my first 80-DING during last week!

Leveling up was damn fun. WotLK is the expansion that TBC should have been.

261 - WoW Model Viewer needs your help!

As some of you may know, the WotLK patch "broke" both of the model and map viewers for WoW.

The old model viewer works fine if you remembered to back up a copy of old WoW, namely the version 2.4.3.

There is a fan-update of WoW model viewer which makes it somewhat compatible with WotLK-WoW.

The bad news are that it is very bugged (animations go mmrgrllrwrrwrl) and making machinima with it is somewhere between annoying -> impossible with it.

So, if someone with MAD CODING SK1LLZ is reading this, please head to the WoW model viewer forums.

Get some source code and make the entire WoW artist/machinima company vvveeery happy by fixing our #1 tool of the trade!

I still survive with the old model viewer, but there are too many cool things in WotLK which need to be used in machinimas.
