I have received one extra beta key for the EU StarCraft II Beta.
Therefore, I'm holding a machinima contest - the winner gets that key!
Your job is to make a machinima with whatever content and subject you like.
RULES
1) The machinima must be exactly one minute in length. No more, no less.
2) Any game can be used to create the machinima. Your entry must be previously unreleased. The machinima can be in any language, but it must be subtitled in english in case the speech is not in english.
3) The contest entry must be uploaded to YouTube. To join the contest, send your video as a reply to this exact video.
4) RICKROLLING IS FORBIDDEN. THE USE OF THE "MS COMIC SANS FONT" IS EXTREMELY FORBIDDEN.
This contest is about creativity! Using the best and flashiest programs does not guarantee victory, using a low-end program does not mean loss.
Now give me some cool stuff to watch at!
The contest period starts RIGHT NOW and ends at 26th of march 2010.
The Finnish World of Warcraft-magazine WoW-Lehti made an article about machinima and interviewed me for it. I took some pics about the article, and here they are.
The bolded quote translates to "There can never be too much of the following things: gnomes, hard drive space or Battlestar Galactica-references."
Mike Spiff was also interviewed for the machinima article. MrVoletron and his music stuff is featured too in an article of it's own.
THE FACT is that Horde is better than the Alliance.
Except that it is not.
Because Horde lacks gnomes.
The version which I submitted to the contest was done in about three days.
All the unnecessary things, like eating had to be put on hold when birth was given to this gnomish liberation. When working this fast, I aimed to create functional and working scenes.
And here we go again.. I can't praise the musical score made by the Great Xenuontologist Caruu enough! I wanted epic metal, I got epic metal!
The queen of /G/nomes
The fact still remains that it is impossible for a movie to have too much gnomes, Battlestar Galactica references or dead murlocs.
A new genre is born - gno-mech-anime!
Polishing and re-tuning could come afterwards – so here it is: World of Gnomecraft 2.01!
As everyone knows he hates gnomes. His worst nightmare would be to be in a guild which is for gnomes only.
“Damn, man – I really hate gnomes”, he said. But Olibith is quite the exceptional gnome-hater, I found it weird that he did not make a single joke about eating gnomes.
Gnome paladins. We all need them, yes?
Gnome Paladins would make sense as much as the gnome priests do. One more hybrid class is what the gnomish race needs.
Join the cause!
If you’re a gnome and tired of the shit that the rest of the alliance is giving you – read on! Form a guild called Gnomecraft. Accept only gnomes as members.
Kick out all the silly inventors and replace them with espionage artists and information warriors. Free yourself and your fellow gnomes from any moral restrictions when experimenting with the lesser creatures (ie. draenei, male blood elf death knights etc).
Garden gnomes! Get your own for the low price of 750 Gold at Gnoperture Science inc.!
(Batteries not included)
Machines are your friends!
Create them to be equal sentient beings, if you find your skill lacking – look no further than the mechagnomes. Maybe, with further experimentation and research you will be able to gain immortality.. or “resurrection” so to speak.
Olibith made me see the truth in gnomes. Voodooray made me see the truth in moonkins. Whowho, however.. we'll just have to wait and see!
The Alliance does not deserve your machines. Your best bet is to nuke them from the orbit, it’s the only way to be sure in getting rid of both of your annoyances.
So vibrate we all!
"WE ARE GNOMEREGAN, FOR WE ARE MANY. NEVER FORGET. NEVER FORGIVE."
Join the cause, make Blizzard see reason and give us gnome paladins – copy & paste one or both of the pictures to your blog / facebook / homepage!
"Machinima takes effort. PvP videos do not."-BaronSoosdon
Oh wow, I did not ever think that this little sentence could make a pathetic whiney emo go liek:
Ahahah! I'm so happy that this sentence might be the one that makes me echo to eternity! On my random googling and browsing session I ran into this piece of gem here:
In case you can't click it, it says "35. Unlimited Escapism and most other stuff by Baron Soosdon http://www.baronsoosdon.com/ even though he's an arrogant, stupid ***hole for saying crap like "Machinima takes effort. PvP videos do not." Dear Baron: Screw that. And your Model Viewer. And yes, I'm aware that you can do crazy stuff on private servers. Don't be mad because you're not good enough to make a good pvp movie."
Something REALLY different this time - I've taken a non-machinima video as one of my side projects and also as a part of this "reinventing the stuff I make"-thing.
A music video is the best way to start, and the music is this:
It's a mash-up of the Oasis song Wonderwall and Myon & Shane 54's Helpless.
Plans always change, but the initial plan is to create this by only using my camera, Photoshop and After Effects. I'm going to avoid using any machinima or game related stuff in it. But as ideas develop on the way, who knows what'll happen!
The style of the video is very similar to The Device Has Been Modified - as the lyrics of the song play out, the words and letters are synced to them.
I have no timetable on this, as this is a sideproject from all things machinima. I also don't expect to finish this anytime soon, since I'm filming it in FullHD and that does punish your machine.
The good thing in all this is that there will be no sick amounts of Fraps files to fill the HDD!
The YouTube account drama takes an unexpected twist and turn, as the account seems to have been restored for now.
But still, I haven't changed my mind. Something new must become out of all this!
I'm not sure what the future will bring, but I'm playing with the thought that World of Gnomecraft 2.0 will be the last movie I release on this particular YT account. I am not planning to get rid of the BaronSoosdon alias or anything.
"Nublock Movies" on the other hand is expendable.
The best thing about all this DRAMAH is the inspiration it gave me. It's been an eternity since I've gotten an idea for a voice-acted machinima with a plot.. Especially for one which has all three key ingredients: a beginning, middle part and THE END.
When I now think of all the machinima ideas I had in mind prior to this drama, all I can see the word "CANCELLED" written in red text above their imaginary screenshots. The XT002 movie is an exception. For it, I see only static with red pixels here and there.
Destruction brings rebirth. Rebirth brings dead murlocs. You know the rules and so do I.
